FOUR months after posting a 'should I start a blog on traveling overseas as a student on a budget' attention-seeking status, I finally got around to doing it. Okay, honestly, if you knew me well enough you'd have probably figured the only reason I'm actually starting a blog is because I'm bored as always... and procrastinating work plus all my friends have seemingly decided to abandon me so I'm seeking refuge from a public blog or more like a diary since the only 2 person who'll read this(besides myself) is my sister making sure I'm not doing something stupid, so hi jie! *waves*
SO let's get started shall we? *breathes heavily, rolls eyes, cracks knuckles.. stares blankly at the screen*
Yeah okay, I have zero talent in writing let alone blogging but anyway, back to the point of traveling; since coming to UK in June I've surprisingly traveled to 2 countries in Europe and still have not gotten out of Scotland. Hell, I haven't even been to London. WHO COMES TO UK AND DOES NOT MAKE LONDON THEIR FIRST STOP? #bangsheadontable.
But I promise I will get around to writing about Paris and Amsterdam.. And then there's Nottingham & Bristol this weekend plus London, Birmingham and (gasp) Spain next month!
In case you're wondering how I still manage to keep in budget while traveling everywhere in a couple of months: I don't but you've got to travel or you'll never get a better chance.
But anyway, here's a short post about Cardiff/Bath! Yeay! Eve's first actual post about traveling!
Girls being girls; the first stop I had was of course the shopping mall/street and this french-themed arcade with a bloody narrow walkway housing a cosy little cafe, Coffee Barker which Phar and I lazily just sat and drank our fair share of caramel latte and chai tea latter.
Amazing brunch; Pancake with berries, bananas & maple syrup at Bill's Cafe and Restaurant in the city
Spiced chai tea latte If you're a big fan of cinnamon & tea, this shit is good. I swear by it and I've been getting everybody to try it!
Phar surprised me the moment I arrived by saying we were going to Bath the next day and I was like 'great.. more travelling by train(I've been in the train for 6.5 hours just to get from Glasgow to Cardiff!' but if your geography isn't as bad as mine, you'd probably know Bath is only an hour away from Cardiff by train (return ticket £12.40). Yeah, well I didn't know so I basically embarrassed myself with the lack of common knowledge and eventually agreed to visit the Roman Bath plus the surrounding city for a short trip the next day.
Bath Abbey
The famous hot spring during the Roman Empire where every soldier and every respectable person would come to bath publicly which has now has to turn to a lovely shade of algae green.
Oh yes and presenting, my tour guide who tries to convince me half of the time she's too old/tired to dance/party/club but ends up pretty much being dragged everywhere by all her (uncountable-amount) of friends.
If you ever head to Cardiff, you'll know there honestly isn't much to see except for maybe the castle in the city... but it's definitely worth a £4 return trip to Cardiff Bay especially if it's in the summer, spring or autumn (basically just not winter).
Excuse the awkwardness, I can't post for shizzle.
It's even worth just sitting by the bay, catching up with a friend of enjoying the view with a drink(let it be coffee, alcohol or water; whatever floats your boat bro)
You won't believe this but since coming to UK I'm sad to announce I've not had ANY good burgers worth mentioning that can beat the uprising burger spots in Msia but hell, this one is good. This one is GREAT. It's in a quiant corner bar/restaurant called Salt which serves this amazeballs burger & I have to add, the risotto is worth mentioning but I'm no pro in tasting risottos honestly; that was the first I've ever had in my life.
The super yummy vulgarly named Dragon Breathe's Burger
If you ever do go to Cardiff, please try the super yummy welsh cakes if you love anything pastry/bread-related. I forgot to take a picture cause I was too busy stuffing my face in it. Oops.
Oh and do visit Cardiff Castle if you're not feeling stingy unlike I am.
And here's my last camwore pic for you to enjoy saying au revoir until my post about Paris and now it's back to looking for something else to help with my procrastination xx.
