6 days around Spain: Tomorrow town

You're probably as puzzled with my title as I was was when I first heard the phrase 'mañana' which literally translated to 'tomorrow' IF tomorrow ever comes. Spain shall now be known in my head as the country of the unfinished/procrastination not just to me but apparently that's just how the Spanish like to roll; work easy relax long and playing hard. Just the way I like it!

Thoughts while touring Spain In case you're wondering I went to Spain last year and only got the chance to blog about it now.. 4th year really did take a toll on me so please forgive me if my commentary were not sufficiently descriptive :p

  1. Going in winter is probably not the greatest idea we have had. Yes I went to Spain back in December and never did manage to finish this post. Pretty fitting for 'tomorrow town' I suppose ;) I mean can you imagine going to the beach fully clothed with a jacket and long pants.

Stop judging me.. it was cold :(

Yet, it's not exactly the worst idea... considering Glasgow was single digit and subzero temperature at that point of time. Anywhere which requires less than 4 layers of clothes would be G.R.E.A.T.

    Barceloneta Beach, Madrid.
  2. A bit of gym/jog in the park wouldn't hurt especially if you're planning to work out that bathing suit (or birthday suit -whatever your fancy) at the beach if you're going during summer.. and eat all that yummy paella.

Noodle paella! Never knew such a thing existed :o

  3. GO WITH A BUNCH OF FRIENDS THAT LOVE TO PARTY.

Yeap, it's sangria tapas and more sangria every other night. And the cheese; slices of cheese as tapas was heavenly when I was there.

I can't recall what this alcoholic beverage was but his presentation was definitely something interesting.
Tastes very strongly of fermentation with a cloudy presentation but it was rather delightful, light and not overpoweringly sour. Unforunately, my memory fails me. I can't recall the name of the shop or even area we were in.
Joanne having a go at it and doing suspiciously awesome.

Sorry but no party pictures here. If you wanna know how I party, hit me up when I'm back in JULY.
    CAUSEI'MFINALLYCOMING HOME *cries buckets*
.. and also, I don't want unwanted pictures being public and held against me in the near future. Just being a little cautious :D I'm innocent. I swear!
  4. If not, there's always exploring obscure cafes like the one down the road from the Picasso museum where I found Tanu Mel and Carissa happily with their cup while I was panicking for the fact that NONE OF THEM WAS PICKING UP THEIR PHONES AND I WAS ALONE LOOKING FOR THEM AFTER MY SHORT TRIP TO THE MUSEUM.

If you're an art lover, this is worth a shot. It doesn't just show his art (most of them are in Paris by now) but rather his life and understanding his progression in style :) it's only 6 euros for a student so don't forget your ID!

  5. Don't forget the stadium if you're a football fan!
Estadio Santiago Bernabéu owned by Real Madrid FC.
I'm not even a football fan but heck, I'm already here! Of course I've gotta check this out!

  6. Churros. Do I really have to explain this one? But yes I will because this was so heavenly. The perfect sweetness with just a tinge of caramel. Who am I kidding, IT WAS LOADED WITH CARAMEL RIGHT SMACK IN THE CENTER OF THE CHURROS. This was just too gorg to pass..

Which brings me back to the exercising part I was mentioning before.. *ahem*

  7. Visit as many architecture as you can.. especially Spain's pride; Antoni Gaudi's work of art.

    Templo de Debod
    Puerta de Alcalá, Madrid
    Buan Retiro Park
Regional Government of Madrid ie. fancy city hall, an old post office building looking almost as majestic as a palace eh? Located in Plaza de Cibeles, a square in the city of Madrid.

    Parque del Retiro
Palacio de Cristal in Parque del Retiro.
That compulsory jump shot at least once ;)
We took a quick tour around the Gothic Quarters. Definitely worth the walking!

Casa Battlo. One of Gaudi's work

Museu Nacional d'art de catalunya, Barcelona.

    Placa d' Espanya

    Arc de Triomf
  8. But save Gaudi's Sagrada Familia for the last. This is one building you MUST visit and this one, you absolutely CANNOT stinge on.

Hong Jun, ME, Mel, Joanne,  Evon, Chin, Tanu & Carissa ;)

I was lucky to have journeyed with this amazing bunch of people. At times during the trip, it got exhausting as we mostly travelled by foot whenever possible and sometimes even walking aimlessly as we had planned this trip on our own where none of us had been to Spain before. TripAdvisor's offline map had been a blessing the entire journey and having super duper responsible friends with good planning skills had made it so enjoyable. Can't deny tequila shots and sangria did help quite a bit.. but at the end of it, nothing could beat the company ;)
